  "TEXAS DEMOGRAPHICS AND THEIR EFFECTS UPON PUBLIC AND HIGHER EDUCATION: 2005 REPORT"

Top educators in Texas join together to discuss what effect population changes are having and will continue to have on public school and higher education.  They will also look at what Texas colleges, universities, and public schools must do to insure the success of the "Closing the Gaps" plan.
PANEL:
Dr. Raymund Paredes
, Commissioner of Higher Education, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, spent most of his academic career at UCLA as an English professor and administrator. Prior to joining the Coordinating Board, he was Vice President for Programs at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

 

Dr. Steve Murdock, Texas State Demographer, holds the Lutcher Brown Distinguished Chair in Management Science and Statistics at the University of Texas, San Antonio. Dr. Murdock holds a doctorate in demography and sociology from the University of Kentucky.

 

Dr. Shirley Neeley, Commissioner of Education, Texas Education Association. As commissioner, she serves as the head of the Texas Education Agency, which oversees 1,037 school districts and about 200 charter schools.
